The customer had old fiberglass and cellulose insulation in his home that has not held up over the years. It had gotten wet and sagged/settled, no longer an effective as an insulator of his home. He was also experiencing some water problems in his crawlspace. He contacted us with an interest in replacing the old insulation in his attic and crawlspace with spray foam insulation.
We removed and disposed of the old fiberglass and cellulose insulation and installed spray foam insulation on underside of the roof deck. Spray foam insulation is an air seal, as it fills all the gaps and cracks traditional insulation does not. In the crawlspace, trenches were dug around the perimeter and drainage pipes installed, as well as a sump pump and battery backup system. A thick liner was placed over the ground and sealed around the perimeter walls with closed cell foam insulation. We also installed a dehumidifier to help control humidity levels.
